Most administrative offices related to economic activities of the province are located here. These activities include petroleum extraction and pre-processing, sugarcane and sugar industry, tobacco, steel, citrus, and fruit and vegetable production.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Salvador_de_Jujuy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Salvador de Jujuy<\/a> has a colonial city centre including the Cathedral and the Cabildo &#8211; and colourful Andean carnivals. The settlement was later abandoned and was reestablished in 1632 by Mart\u00edn Garc\u00eda O\u00f1ez de Loyola. In 1882 the Argentine Great Western Railway reached the city on its way to Chile.<br \/>\nPoints of interest in the city include the Park of the Nations, the neoclassical cathedral, a number of museums including the Dora Ochoa De Masram\u00f3n Provincial Museum, and the colonial architecture. The first settlement (today <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Posadas,_Misiones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Posadas<\/a>) was not completely abandoned, and in 1867, during the Paraguayan War, the Brazilians set up a military base there. Following the end of the war, Paraguay renounced all claims to the area, and in 1879, the town was renamed after Antonio de Posadas, the Supreme Director of the Argentine Confederation.<br \/>\nToday, Posadas is the capital city of the Argentine province of Misiones. It is located some 1,300 kilometres from Buenos Aires, at the banks of the Paran\u00e1 River, opposite to Encarnaci\u00f3n (Paraguay) and connected with it by a\u00a0bridge. The city has an area of 965 km\u00b2 and a population of 324,756.<br \/>\nIt is the provincial centre of the government, the economy, and culture. Food, furniture, textile, tobacco, and construction are its most important industries. Other important economic activities are services and commerce. The word \u201cNeuqu\u00e9n\u201d comes from the Mapuche expression for \u201cfast-flowing\u201d as the river Limay flows with its plentiful volume at the south of the city.<br \/>\nThe city is both an important agricultural centre, surrounded by fertile lands, thanks to the waters of the Neuqu\u00e9n and Limay rivers, and a petrochemical industrial centre that receives oil extracted from several points of the province. Also, Neuqu\u00e9n belongs economically and geographically to the Alto Valle region that produces apples, pears, and other fruits.<br \/>\nWith the discovery of the \u201cVaca Muerta\u201d oil fields (the 3rd largest shale gas &amp; oil reserves in the world), the city has experienced a boom in construction and real estate. It is expected that over the next years the city will continue to experience strong growth as it is the only significant city in the region (it has an airport, office space and institutions to become the centre of the operations of the gas and oil gas companies, as well as for their suppliers).<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"nav fusion-mobile-tab-nav\"><ul class=\"nav-tabs nav-justified\"><li><a class=\"tab-link\" data-toggle=\"tab\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"tab-7eadb1f78474599e98f\" aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"-1\" id=\"mobile-fusion-tab-rawson\" href=\"#tab-7eadb1f78474599e98f\"><h4 class=\"fusion-tab-heading\">Rawson<\/h4><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"tab-pane fade fusion-clearfix\" role=\"tabpanel\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-labelledby=\"fusion-tab-rawson\" id=\"tab-7eadb1f78474599e98f\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rawson,_Chubut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rawson<\/a> (originally Welsh: &#8220;Trerawson&#8221;) is the capital of the Argentine <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chubut_Province\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">province of Chubut<\/a> (Patagonia) and has today about 26.000 inhabitants.<br \/>\nThe city is located about 1,360 kilometres south of Buenos Aires and has a fishing port (Puerto Rawson) on the Atlantic coast, 5 km down the river. Provincial administration and the port are the main economic activities in the city.<br \/>\nThe city became the provincial capital in 1957 when Chubut was constituted as a province.
